Tama-bara Kanzashi
In this lesson, you will learn how to make a Tamabara,
one of the tsumami zaiku rose.
The tama-bara is a tsumami zaiku technique, which refers to the rosebud. This time, we will make a retro kanzashi that looks great with hakama. “Hakama” is a traditional Japanese clothing, much like kimono. However, “Hakama” have pleated rousers,
instead of one long cloth like a kimono.
This kanzashi is a design that reminds of Taisho Romanticism (the culture of the early 1900s that blended the Japanese and Western worlds).

We will make round rose flowers (Tama-bara) by using
maru tsumami technique of tsumami zaiku.
Making The Tama-bara

You will learn the tips to make a ball decoration which can be used to add to your tsumami zaiku.
