My name is Veronica and I am Italian, currently living in the north-east of Italy. I always enjoyed making art in many ways, from drawings to jewelry, until I fell in love with tsumami zaiku in 2014. The Academy of Fine Arts I went to was supposed to reinforce my love for painting, but, thanks to the many techniques I learnt there, I understood that “my art” could not be confined on a flat surface on a wall. And that the only thing that I wanted it to be was “to be beautiful”. Japanese traditional arts and crafts started to be one of my inspirations in high school and from there the interest has grown stronger, with kitsuke and other wonderful kōgei.

Reasons you applied the teacher`s certification:

At the beginning of my journey I struggled a lot to understand how to create beautiful kanzashi as those I could see made in Japan. For this reason I always felt like a hobbyist because I didn’t have a solid base to start from. After the courses, after getting in touch with wonderful Japanese masters and fellow artist, and after this exam, I feel I can put those insecurities aside and spread traditional tsumami zaiku in my country proudly.
